Council Hierarchy
The City Council's day-to-day operations are run by the City Manager. The current City Manager is Conn Murray. Conn Murray is also the first city manager to have the dual role in being the manager of both Limerick City and Limerick County. The 2 authorities are currently amalgamating into one super authority which will be known as Limerick City and County Council when both merge in 2014.
The powers of the Mayor have been greatly reduced since the 1934 Act and the role is mainly ceremonial. The Mayor chairs city council meetings.

With beards askew, their eyes dull and wild

Wandering the face of the earth a fatherless child....”
