Temples and Cult Images
Ancient sources describe the Aventine Triad's temple as built in the Greek style. Famous quotes containing the words temples, cult and/or images:
“This city now doth, like a garment, wear
The beauty of the morning; silent bare,
Ships, towers, domes, theatres and temples lie
Open unto the fields and to the sky;
All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.”
—William Wordsworth (17701850)
“The cult of individuality and personality, which promotes painters and poets only to promote itself, is really a business. The greater the genius of the personage, the greater the profit.”
—George Grosz (18931959)
“We picked each other from afar and knew
What hour of terror comes to test the soul,
And in that terrors name obeyed the call,
And understood, what none have understood,
Those images that waken in the blood.”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
