Legislative Districts of Quezon City

The Legislative Districts of Quezon City, namely the first, second, third and fourth districts, are the representations of Quezon City in the Philippine House of Representatives. From its creation in 1939 to 1972 Quezon City was represented as part of Rizal Province, with the western areas that formerly belonged to Caloocan, Mandaluyong and San Juan voting as part of that province's first district, and the eastern areas that formerly belonged to Marikina, Rodriguez, Pasig and San Mateo voting in the second district. From 1978 to 1984 it was part of the representation of Region IV, and from 1984 to 1986 it elected 4 assemblymen at-large. Since the restoration of the House of Representatives in 1987, Quezon City has been divided into 4 legislative districts. As of July 2, 2012, President Benigno S. Aquino III signed into law "Republic Act No. 10170", dividing and reapportioning the Second District into three (3) more legislative districts.

Famous quotes containing the words legislative, districts and/or city:

Let reverence for the laws, be breathed by every American mother, to the lisping babe, that prattles on her lap—let it be taught in schools, in seminaries, and in colleges;Mlet it be written in Primers, spelling books, and in Almanacs;Mlet it be preached from the pulpit, proclaimed in legislative halls, and enforced in courts of justice.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

Cities need old buildings so badly it is probably impossible for vigorous streets and districts to grow without them.... for really new ideas of any kind—no matter how ultimately profitable or otherwise successful some of them might prove to be—there is no leeway for such chancy trial, error and experimentation in the high-overhead economy of new construction. Old ideas can sometimes use new buildings. New ideas must use old buildings.
    Jane Jacobs (b. 1916)

    Overcome the Empyrean; hurl
Heaven and Earth out of their places,
    That in the same calamity
Brother and brother, friend and friend,
    Family and family,
    City and city may contend.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
