Legislative Districts of Laguna

The Legislative Districts of Laguna, namely the first, second, third and fourth districts, are the representations of the Province of Laguna in the Philippine House of Representatives. The province was divided into two legislative districts from 1907 to 1972. It was part of the representation of Region IV-A from 1978 to 1984, and from 1984 to 1986 it elected 4 assemblymen at-large to the Regular Batasang Pambansa. In 1986, it was redistricted into four legislative districts.

Famous quotes containing the words legislative and/or districts:

The dignity and stability of government in all its branches, the morals of the people, and every blessing of society, depend so much upon an upright and skilful administration of justice, that the judicial power ought to be distinct from both the legislative and executive, and independent upon both, that so it may be a check upon both, as both should be checks upon that.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

Cities need old buildings so badly it is probably impossible for vigorous streets and districts to grow without them.... for really new ideas of any kind—no matter how ultimately profitable or otherwise successful some of them might prove to be—there is no leeway for such chancy trial, error and experimentation in the high-overhead economy of new construction. Old ideas can sometimes use new buildings. New ideas must use old buildings.
    Jane Jacobs (b. 1916)
