The common name leaf cactus (plural leaf cacti) refers to either of the two following genera in the family Cactaceae:
- Epiphyllum, a genus of epiphytic cacti, and
- Pereskia, with very primitive elements.
Famous quotes containing the words leaf and/or cactus:
“Once they came on a maple in a glade,
Standing alone with smooth arms lifted up,
And every leaf of foliage shed worn
Laid scarlet and pale pink about her feet.”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
“This is the dead land
This is cactus land
Here the stone images
Are raised, here they receive
The supplication of a dead mans hand
Under the twinkle of a fading star.”
—T.S. (Thomas Stearns)
