Latvia at The 1936 Summer Olympics

Latvia competed at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. It would be the last time that Latvia would compete at the Summer Games as an independent nation until the 1992 Summer Olympics. After the nation was annexed by the Soviet Union in 1940, Latvian athletes would compete at the Olympic Games as part of the USSR delegations.

Famous quotes containing the word summer:

    Cling with life to the maid;
    But when the surprise,
    First vague shadow of surmise
    Flits across her bosom young,
    Of a joy apart from thee,
    Free be she, fancy-free;
    Nor thou detain her vesture’s hem,
    Nor the palest rose she flung
    From her summer diadem.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
