Lamp (electrical Component) - Lamp Circuit Symbols

Lamp Circuit Symbols

In circuit diagrams lamps usually are shown as symbols. There are two main types of symbols, these are:

The cross in a circle, which usually represents a lamp as an indicator.
The semicircular dent in a circle, which usually represents a lamp as a source of light or illumination.

Famous quotes containing the words lamp, circuit and/or symbols:

... people were so ridiculous with their illusions, carrying their fools’ caps unawares, thinking their own lies opaque while everybody else’s were transparent, making themselves exceptions to everything, as if when all the world looked yellow under a lamp they alone were rosy.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

Within the circuit of this plodding life
There enter moments of an azure hue,
Untarnished fair as is the violet
Or anemone, when the spring strews them
By some meandering rivulet, which make
The best philosophy untrue that aims
But to console man for his grievances.
I have remembered when the winter came,
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Luckless is the country in which the symbols of procreation are the objects of shame, while the agents of destruction are honored! And yet you call that member your pudendum, or shameful part, as if there were anything more glorious than creating life, or anything more atrocious than taking it away.
    Savinien Cyrano De Bergerac (1619–1655)
