Lakeridge Health Port Perry

Lakeridge Health Port Perry is a hospital located in Port Perry, Ontario. The hospital currently services the townships of Scugog, Brock and Uxbridge in Durham Region.

The hospital was founded as the private Community Memorial Hospital Port Perry, which became public in 1946. Community Memorial moved twice due to population growth, once in 1953 and again in 1969 to its current location. In April 1997, under the Common Sense Revolution, the hospital was amalgamated with Uxbridge Cottage Hospital to form North Durham Health Services (NDHS).

In 1998 the hospital, along with Memorial Hospital Bowmanville, Oshawa General Hospital and Whitby General Hospital, were placed under the administration of the Lakeridge Health Corporation. The hospital was renamed, and Uxbridge Cottage was placed under the jurisdiction of the Markham-Stouffville Hospital Corporation.

The hospital currently has 180 staff members and 20 physicians, with a 24/7 emergency room, acute care, continuing care, and surgery.

Famous quotes containing the words health, port and/or perry:

In the continual enterprise of trying to guide appropriately, renegotiate with, listen to and just generally coexist with our teenage children, we ourselves are changed. We learn even more clearly what our base-line virtues are. We listen to our teenagers and change our minds about some things, stretching our own limits. We learn our own capacity for flexibility, firmness and endurance.
—Jean Jacobs Speizer. Ourselves and Our Children, by Boston Women’s Health Collective, ch. 4 (1978)

The very best place to be in all the world is St. Mary’s parish, Jamaica. And the best spot in St. Mary’s is Port Maria, though all of St. Mary’s is fine. Old Maker put himself to a lot of trouble to make that part of the island of Jamaica, for everything there is perfect.
    Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960)

Dr. Scofield’s equipment, which you have just seen, radiated waves direct to Professor Houghland’s laboratory. When these waves came in contact with those the professor’s equipment was radiating, they created the interstellar frequency, which is the death ray.
