Kushiel's Mercy - What Came Before

What Came Before

After burying the head of Dorelei's murderer, Berlik, at her feet, Imriel and Sidonie, accompanied by Alais, Drustan, and a company of both Alban and D'Angeline soldiers set off once again for Bryn Gorrydum, and then for home. Along the way, Sidonie takes matters into her own hands and, in front of everyone, takes Imriel into her tent. That night, they learn each other again and their hopes and passions are rekindled. Upon reaching Bryn Gorrydum, they board the Cruarch's ship with Phèdre and Joscelin, bound once more for Terre d'Ange, and Sidonie's disapproving mother, Queen Ysandre.

Famous quotes containing the words what and/or came:

The camera is a killing chamber, which speeds up the time it claims to be conserving. Like coffins exhumed and prised open, the photographs put on show what we were and what we will be again.
    Peter Conrad (b. 1948)

It was soldiers went marching over the rocks
And still the birds came, came in watery flocks,
Because it was spring and the birds had to come.
No doubt that soldiers had to be marching
And that drums had to be rolling, rolling, rolling.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
