In 2011, it was claimed that more than 10,000 ethnic Serbs have had their names Albanized, e.g. from Nikolić to Nikoliqi, Petrović to Petroviqi, and their nationality from "Serbian" to "Kosovan". This has been interpreted by Serbs as ethnic cleansing.
