Kokoda Memorial Hospital

Kokoda Memorial Hospital is a hospital located in Papua New Guinea in the southern Pacific Ocean and was built by Rotary Australia volunteers in 1995. The building of the hospital was financed by the Government of Australia, with the Papuan government providing staff. The hospital was named for those who died in the Kokoda Campaign.

Famous quotes containing the words memorial and/or hospital:

When I received this [coronation] ring I solemnly bound myself in marriage to the realm; and it will be quite sufficient for the memorial of my name and for my glory, if, when I die, an inscription be engraved on a marble tomb, saying, “Here lieth Elizabeth, which reigned a virgin, and died a virgin.”
    Elizabeth I (1533–1603)

The sun his hand uncloses like a statue,
Irrevocably: thereby such light is freed
That all the dingy hospital of snow
    Dies back to ditches.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)
