Kidsgrove Railway Station

Kidsgrove railway station serves the town of Kidsgrove in Staffordshire, England. The station is 7.5 miles (12.07 km) north of Stoke-on-Trent. The station is served by trains on the Crewe to Derby Line which is also a Community rail line known as the North Staffordshire line. The station is owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Trains (EMT) Train Operating Company (TOC).

Tickets for travel should be purchased from the ticket office or ticket machine at the station entrance, in accordance with the national conditions of carriage the guard on the train will only retail 'anytime' tickets, unless the ticket machine is not working or the ticket required is not available to purchase. The station is not part of any Penalty Fare scheme.

In the Year 2009/10 the usage of the station grew by almost 58% to over 100 thousand recorded journeys, in addition more than 6,434 passengers used the station to change trains. The increase in usage (followed by a similar increase for 2010/11) has been attributed to improved timetable in December 2008 (specifically the introduction of London Midland's Desiro service to London Euston via Northampton).

Famous quotes containing the words railway and/or station:

Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understand—my mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arm’s length.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)
