Kicker - Gambling

Gambling

  • A kicker (poker) or side card, a card in a poker hand that does not itself take part in determining the rank of the hand, but that may be used to break ties between hands of the same rank
  • Kicker is an option for certain North American lottery games:
    • in the Connecticut Lottery's Cash 5 game
    • in the Ohio Lottery's Classic Lotto game (once was an add-on for Mega Millions within Ohio); Ohio's The Kicker is a true "add-on", unlike in Connecticut's Cash 5
    • Most Canadian lotteries offer an add-on similar to Ohio's, known as Extra, Encore, or Tag, depending on the lottery; many more Canadian than American games offer this option

    Gloria Steinem (b. 1934)

As Jerome expanded, its chances for the title, “the toughest little town in the West,” increased and when it was incorporated in 1899 the citizens were able to support the claim by pointing to the number of thick stone shutters on the fronts of all saloons, gambling halls, and other places of business for protection against gunfire.
—Administration in the State of Ariz, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
