The station was assigned the call letters KSXX on 1997-11-17. On 2003-03-13, the station changed its call sign to the current KFSG.
KFSG's signal has been reported throughout most of the western United States at night. This is due in part the fact that 1690 is a relatively clear frequency, with the closest station competing being KDDZ from Arvada, Colorado.
