Kaler

Kaler, Kler or Clair or any other variation which remains phonetically identical, is a clan of Jats found in northern areas of India and Pakistan. They belong mostly to the Sikh faith. In India they are found in Punjab (more particularly Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur), the Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh and the Sikar district in Rajasthan, Bhiwani and Karnal district in Haryana. Balkara is a village in CH. Dadri of Bhiwani district known as Kalheran Ka Gaam (A village of Kalher's). In Pakistan they are based in the district Gujrat, Gujranwala of Punjab. They can also be found in Abbottabad and Faisalabad in Punjab, Pakistan.

According to Dr Pema Ram the Churu town in Rajasthan was founded by Kaler Jats and it was earlier known as Kalera Bas.
