Remakes
As of May 2012, the film is set to be remade in Tamil and Telugu. Endemol India, a TV production house, planned to venture into films with the remake of Kahaani being their first project. Sekhar Kammula will direct the Telugu version, with South Indian actress Nayantara playing Vidya's role. They bought the remake rights of the film and planned to roll the remakes on floors in September 2012 and release them in January 2013. On their selection of the film, Deepak Dhar, CEO, Endemol India, explained that the story had a strong emotional connect and can be adapted well for different markets. Ghosh, along with reprising his role of a co-producer for the remakes, is supposed to work with a leading director from the South Indian film industry.
