Julietta - Performance History

Performance History

The UK premiere was given in April 1978 in London by the New Opera Company, in an English translation. A production by the Bielefeld Opera in Germany conducted by Geoffrey Moull received eight performances in 1992.

While modern performances have been relatively rare, The Guardian notes performances by Opera North in 1997, and a production by Richard Jones in Paris in 2002 which was revived by English National Opera in London in September/October 2012 to enthusiastic reviews overall.

Famous quotes containing the words performance and/or history:

    Kind are her answers,
    But her performance keeps no day;
    Breaks time, as dancers,
    From their own music when they stray.
    Thomas Campion (1567–1620)

    We aspire to be something more than stupid and timid chattels, pretending to read history and our Bibles, but desecrating every house and every day we breathe in.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
