Juan Huarte de San Juan - Life

Life

He was born at Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port around 1530, and was educated, firstly, at the university of Huesca, and then at the University of Alcalá, where he graduated in medicine.

Though it appears doubtful whether he practiced as a physician at Huesca, Huarte distinguished himself by his professional skill and heroic zeal during the plague which devastated Baeza in 1566.

Huarte died in Linares.

Famous quotes containing the word life:

The richest princes and the poorest beggars are to have one great and just judge at the last day who will not distinguish between them according to their ranks when in life but according to the neglected opportunities afforded to each. How much greater then, as the opportunities were greater, must be the condemnation of the one than of the other?
    Samuel Richardson (1689–1761)

We are all of us resigned to death: it’s life we aren’t resigned to.
    Graham Greene (1904–1991)

Poor devil, poor devil, he’s best gone out of a life where he rides his rocking-horse to find a winner.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)
