Family
Joseph and Sadie raised four children (3 sons and 1 daughter.) Robert (Bobby), Sylvia, Charles (Chuck) and Donald (Don). His son Robert was an award-winning newspaper editor, another son, Charles, made a career in agricultural real estate. Only daughter, Sylvia, earned a doctorate in Russian literature. Sadie (18 March 1905-2 December 2008) was a person known with a warm, down-to-earth person who would accompany him to his trips abroad, she also never drove a car and she outlived him when he died by 9 months and a few days. He doted on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
