Awards and Honors
Sykes has been recognized by numerous organizations for his accomplishments in the entrepreneurial field and community involvement. Some of these awards include the 1996 Florida Entrepreneur of the Year, and the 1997 Innovator of the Year award. In 1997 he was recognized as Citizen of the Year by the Tampa Police Department; and he received the 1998 Citizen of the Year award by the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Officers. Also, in 1998, Sykes was inducted into the Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame and was awarded the Florida Enterprise medal by the Merchants Association. In 2003 he received the Humanitarian Award from the Judeo Christian Health Clinic and in 2004 received the Senior Philanthropy Award. Sykes was also inducted in to the Hall of Fame of the International Sales and Marketing organization in April 2005.
