Grace Zwillenberg had been serving as principal since 2003, until her resignation in August 2012.

John Adams High School was scheduled be closed as of June 2012. A new school was to be opened at the same location. It was to be called Future Leaders High School at the John Adams Campus.

Daniel Scanlon, who was originally going to be the Principal of Future Leaders High School at the John Adams Campus has been appointed Interim Acting Principal of John Adams High School.

Famous quotes containing the words john, adams, high, school and/or york:

    To John I owed great obligation;
    But John, unhappily, thought fit
    To publish it to all the nation:
    Sure John and I are more than quit.
    Matthew Prior (1664–1721)

    The American man is a very simple and cheap mechanism. The American woman I find a complicated and expensive one. Contrasts of feminine types are possible. I am not absolutely sure that there is more than one American man.
    —Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

    It is not their bones or hide or tallow that I love most. It is the living spirit of the tree, not its spirit of turpentine, with which I sympathize, and which heals my cuts. It is as immortal as I am, and perchance will go to as high a heaven, there to tower above me still.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    By school age, many boys experience pressure to reveal inner feelings as humiliating. They think their mothers are saying to them, “You must be hiding something shameful.” And shucking clams is a snap compared to prying secrets out of a boy who’s decided to “clam up.”
    Ron Taffel (20th century)

    We didn’t want any men in our group. They drink their loans, they don’t work their stores. Why should we have to pay for their irresponsibilities?
    Brachiate Guioth De Espinosa, Colombian storekeeper. As quoted in the New York Times, p. A6 (July 15, 1994)
