Famous quotes containing the words john a, john and/or davis:
“And no matter how all this disappeared,
Or got where it was going, it is no longer
Material for a poem. Its subject
Matters too much, and not enough, standing there helplessly
While the poem streaked by, its tail afire, a bad
Comet screaming hate and disaster....”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
“Wonderful invention, the phonograph. Keeps a man alive long after hes dead.”
—P. J. Wolfson, and John L. Balderston (18991954)
“Nights brittle song, silver-thin
Shatters into a billion fragments
Of quiet shadows
At the blaring jazz
Of a morning sun.”
—Frank Marshall Davis (b. 1905)
