Jimmy Brown (Irish Republican)

Jimmy Brown(1956- 18 August 1992) was a Belfast member of the Irish Republican Socialist Party (IRSP), the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA), and the Irish People's Liberation Organisation (IPLO).

Jimmy Brown left the IRSP in the mid-eighties to join up with the IPLO. He was the leader of the Republican Socialist Collective, which was set up as the political wing of the IPLO.

Brown was gunned down in his car on Clonard Street, Lower Falls, Belfast. He was killed by the Irish Peoples Liberation Organisation Belfast Brigade (IPLOBB), a faction of who opposed the IPLO's leadership formed in August 1992. The two groups feuded which was the main reason of Browns murder. Both the IPLO and the IPLOBB were soon ended by the Provisional IRA in November 1992.
