International Career

After becoming a regular for Qingdao, Jiang Ning would soon be called up for the Chinese under-23 national team and took part in the 2007 Lunar New Year Cup and the 2007 Toulon Tournament. This would soon lead up to a senior appearance and would make his debut coming as a substitute for China against South Korea on 17 February 2008 in a friendly that China lost 3-2. Jiang was then named in the squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification where he started one game against Australia on 26 March 2008 that ended 0-0 as Jiang played as a left winger.

Jiang Ning returned to the Chinese under-23 national team, playing in the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he played in all three group games in the tournament. After the tournament, Jiang was promoted back into the senior team again and he would score his first international goal against Vietnam on 21 January 2009 in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification game, which China won 6-1.
