Jet Airliner (Steve Miller Band Song) - Single Edit

Single Edit

The single edit of Miller's recording features a truncated version of the guitar intro. In addition, one line of the song's lyric was altered for radio play: instead of "'Cause I don't want to get caught up in any of that funky shit goin' down in the city", it was changed to "funky kicks goin' down in the city". The single edit was included on the original release of Greatest Hits 1974–78, although the full album version has been used for later reissues of the compilation.

The single edit also had featured a slightly different mix of Miller's lead vocal on the song. On the album version, one can often hear Miller breathing into the microphone as he begins singing a line. His breathing was mixed out of the single release.

Famous quotes containing the words single and/or edit:

Anyone with a real taste for solitude who indulges that taste encounters the dangers of any other drug-taker. The habit grows. You become an addict.... Absorbed in the visions of solitude, human beings are only interruptions. What voice can equal the voices of solitude? What sights equal the movement of a single day’s tide of light across the floor boards of one room? What drama be as continuously absorbing as the interior one?
    Jessamyn West (1902–1984)

To a philosopher all news, as it is called, is gossip, and they who edit it and read it are old women over their tea.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
