Club Career

In the 2009's Super League XIV he wore Wakefield Trinity Wildcats number-8 shirt, in memory of his close friend Adam Watene, but he reverted back to his usual number-13 shirt for 2010's Super League XV. He was Wakefield Trinity Wildcats's player of the season in 2006's Super League XI and 2007's Super League XII, and was nominated for the Man of Steel award and named in the Super League Dream Team in 2007's Super League XII. Jason Demetriou's contract at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats expired at the end of 2010's Super League XV, and he was told that it would not be renewed. Jason Demetriou was linked with both Featherstone Rovers and Dewsbury Rams, or a return home to Australia. However, he initially joined York City Knights, but a subsequent offer as player/coach for Keighley Cougars arose, and was accepted. Jason Demetriou is associated with the Adam Watene Fund, helping raise funds for his family in New Zealand. He was awarded a 3-month testimonial at the Wildcats for the end of 2010's Super League XV, as a reward for all of his hard work and dedication to English rugby league. Jason Demetriou's most famous moment for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats shirt came in 2006's Super League XI when he scored a late try against local rivals Castleford Tigers to keep Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the European Super League, simultaneously relegating Castleford Tigers. This moment was captured and a large copy of the photo is on display outside the coach's office at Belle Vue.

Famous quotes containing the words club and/or career:

The barriers of conventionality have been raised so high, and so strangely cemented by long existence, that the only hope of overthrowing them exists in the union of numbers linked together by common opinion and effort ... the united watchword of thousands would strike at the foundation of the false system and annihilate it.
Mme. Ellen Louise Demorest 1824–1898, U.S. women’s magazine editor and woman’s club movement pioneer. Demorest’s Illustrated Monthly and Mirror of Fashions, p. 203 (January 1870)

John Brown’s career for the last six weeks of his life was meteor-like, flashing through the darkness in which we live. I know of nothing so miraculous in our history.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
