His first releases were Conclusion (FLC, 1994) and Bird of Passage (FLC, 1995), following up with a collaboration with the Peter Asplund quartet (California Collection, 1997).

In 1995 he set up his own trio with Mattias Svensson/Matthias Hjort on bass and Morten Lund/Rasmus Kihlberg on drums, which has released the following albums on Sittel:

  • Swedish standards, 1997
  • Something to live for, 1999
  • For Listeners only, 2001
  • Swedish landscapes, 2003
  • Plays the music of Jules Styne, 2004

Lundgren and his trio won the Gyllene Skivan for Swedish Standards 1997.

He released a record with Chuck Berghoefer and Joe LaBarbera (Cookin' at the Jazz Bakery, 1996), and toured with Lee Konitz on his Swedish tour of 2005. He was named Swedish jazz musician of the year by Sveriges Radio.
