Jamie Guzman

Jamie Guzman (born July 29, 1979) is a Dominican-born American architect, blogger and creator of The Pompomist: an online magazine about design, Architecture, Independent music and other assorted items. She was born in San Francisco de MacorĂs, Dominican Republic from a middle-class family. At age 7, she attended the Colegio del Apostolado private school, which was an all-girls board school at the time, located in Santo Domingo.

She graduated from high school in 1997 and a month later, moved to the United States with her mother to meet with the rest of her family and relatives who have lived in the U.S. for years. She attended Florida International University in 1998 starting with an undecided major. Jamie went through several schools in college (School of Music, Engineering and Business) trying to define what she really wanted to pursue in her career. In 2005, she got an architecture degree and was already working for a construction firm.

Back in April 2007, she created a weblog called The Pompomist, where the author writes about design and art in general, independent music and thoughts. Her writing has become popular due to her hints of humor on every article. She has interviewed many artists like Tokyo Police Club, Milosh, illustrator Liz Adams, The Bird and the Bee, among others.

Jamie Guzman now resides in Miami, Florida and works for the Permastelisa Group on famous projects designed by the most famous and respected architects like Frank Gehry, Richard Meier and Arquitectonica, as well as real estate developers like Donald Trump and Andre Balazs.
