Jami Bernard - Family

Family

Bernard's maternal grandparents were from BiaƂystok, Poland. She was raised in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York. Her paternal grandfather took the name Bernard while passing through England en route to the United States; it is unclear what his original surname was or what country he came from in Eastern Europe. Her father, Sam Bernard, studied woodcarving briefly under the tutelage of Chaim Gross, who volunteered to teach art to underprivileged youth.

Famous quotes containing the word family:

There are no adequate substitutes for father, mother, and children bound together in a loving commitment to nurture and protect. No government, no matter how well-intentioned, can take the place of the family in the scheme of things.
    Gerald R. Ford (b. 1913)

A “super person” is one who expects to manage a career, home, and family with complete ease, expecting to maintain a perfect job, a perfect marriage, a perfect house, and perfect control of the children.
    Joyce Portner (late 20th century)

There are one or two rules,
    Half-a-dozen, maybe,
    That all family fools,
    Of whatever degree,
Must observe if they love their profession.
    Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (1836–1911)
