James Ruse Agricultural High School can be noted for its strong participation in extracurricular and comptetitive activities. Activities include art, dance, drama, agriculture, sport, leadership and welfare, public competition, and musical productions. The school has a high level of participation in volunteering and fundraising activities, including World's Greatest Shave, NAIDOC Week events, Hope for Cambodian Children Foundation, and the 40hr Famine. Many students have received awards for outstanding participation in community service.
