In 1911 the First Presidency of the Church learned that a photographer had gained unauthorized access to the Salt Lake Temple, had taken numerous photographs of the interior, and was holding those photographs for ransom. Famous quotes containing the words religious and/or writings:
“In the dominant Western religious system, the love of God is essentially the same as the belief in God, in Gods existence, Gods justice, Gods love. The love of God is essentially a thought experience. In the Eastern religions and in mysticism, the love of God is an intense feeling experience of oneness, inseparably linked with the expression of this love in every act of living.”
—Erich Fromm (19001980)
“In this part of the world it is considered a ground for complaint if a mans writings admit of more than one interpretation.”
