J. R. Hildebrand

John R. Hildebrand Jr. (born January 3, 1988) is an American race car driver. He currently competes in the Izod IndyCar Series; driving the #4 National Guard car for Panther Racing. Hildebrand's nickname is Captain America. Hildebrand was within one turn of winning the 2011 Indianapolis 500 when he hit the outside wall on Turn 4, and was passed in the final 200 yards by Dan Wheldon, finishing second. Hildebrand would be injured just months later in the crash at Las Vegas Motor Speedway that killed Wheldon.
