Haj Subsidy

The government of India subsidises the cost of the airfare for Hajj pilgrims. Previously, all pilgrims travelled on Air India, but from 2011 pilgrims fly on planes operated by Hellinic International Airways. In compliance to Allahabad High Court directions, the Government of India has proposed that starting from 2011, the amount of government subsidy per person will be decreased and by 2017 will be ended completely.
