Ipswich Girls' Grammar School (IGGS) is an independent, Non-denominational, day and boarding school for girls, in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia.
The school is one of the eight original 'Queensland Grammar Schools'. These schools are independent, non-denominational, not-for-profit statutory bodies of the Queensland Government. They are not linked to, administered, or governed by any religious organisation or specific style of education.
IGGS maintains a strong connection to Ipswich Grammar School. Both boys and girls were previously taught at Ipswich Junior Grammar School at the primary school situated on the Girls' School campus. However, in recent years, Ipswich Grammar School has opened its doors to the junior boys. In the high school years, the sexes are segregated. Boys attend Ipswich Grammar School at a separate campus; however, the lower years at IGGS (years Prep through to 4) are still co-ed though not many boys attend. Grades 5 and above are single sex.
The school is a member of the Queensland Girls' Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA).

Famous quotes containing the words grammar and/or school:
“I went to a very militantly Republican grammar school and, under its influence, began to revolt against the Establishment, on the simple rule of thumb, highly satisfying to a ten-year-old, that Irish equals good, English equals bad.”
—Bernadette Devlin (b. 1947)
“Today, only a fool would offer herself as the singular role model for the Good Mother. Most of us know not to tempt the fates. The moment I felt sure I had everything under control would invariably be the moment right before the principal called to report that one of my sons had just driven somebodys motorcycle through the high school gymnasium.”
—Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)
