Infrahyoid Branch of Superior Thyroid Artery

The infrahyoid branch of superior thyroid artery (or hyoid) is small and runs along the lower border of the hyoid bone beneath the thyreohyoideus and anastomoses with the vessel of the opposite side.

The hyoid artery is a derivative of the 2nd aortic arch.

Famous quotes containing the words branch, superior and/or thyroid:

She saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the thousand sister calxes arch to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a marriage!
    Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960)

In literary circles, the men of trust and consideration, bookmakers, editors, university deans and professors, bishops, too, were by no means men of the largest literary talent, but usually of a low and ordinary intellectuality, with a sort of mercantile activity and working talent. Indifferent hacks and mediocrities tower, by pushing their forces to a lucrative point, or by working power, over multitudes of superior men, in Old as in New England.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

He’s got a fifteen percent metabolism with an overactive thyroid and a glandular affectation of about three percent. With a one percent mentality. He’s what we designate as the Crummy Moronic type.
Robert Pirosh, U.S. screenwriter, George Seaton, George Oppenheimer, and Sam Wood. Dr. Hugo Z. Hackenbush (Groucho Marx)
