Improvement Support Systems

Improvement Support Systems (ISS) are computerized or electronic specialized systems that help to improve processes, resources, products, businesses, and so on.

Examples of ISS are systems that help to improve:

  • Industrial production
  • Financial indicators (Balance Scorecard)
  • Industrial quality, by using for example Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.

Famous quotes containing the words improvement, support and/or systems:

The progress of society is mainly ... the improvement in the condition of the workingmen of the world.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

Never support two weaknesses at the same time. It’s your combination sinners—your lecherous liars and your miserly drunkards—who dishonor the vices and bring them into bad repute.
    Thornton Wilder (1897–1975)

People stress the violence. That’s the smallest part of it. Football is brutal only from a distance. In the middle of it there’s a calm, a tranquility. The players accept pain. There’s a sense of order even at the end of a running play with bodies stewn everywhere. When the systems interlock, there’s a satisfaction to the game that can’t be duplicated. There’s a harmony.
    Don Delillo (b. 1926)
