International Agreements

According to Amnesty International, Singapore has signed the following international agreements relating to human rights:

  • Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)
  • Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)
  • Optional Protocol to the CRC on the involvement of children in armed conflict in 2008

As of 2010, Singapore has not signed the following agreements:

  • International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)
  • Second Optional Protocol to the ICCPR, aiming at the abolition of the death penalty
  • International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CEDAW)
  • International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination
  • Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment
  • Convention relating to the Status of Refugees (1951)
  • Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees (1967)
  • Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons (1954)
  • Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness (1961)
  • Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court
