Hubig's New Orleans Style Pies - Fire

Fire

On July 27, 2012 a fire broke out at the bakery. Flames were seen coming from the front of the building about 4:30 a.m. The fire grew to five alarms, engulfing the old factory. A little more than an hour after the first firefighters arrived, the facade of the building crumbled. No one was hurt, but the facility was a total loss. Owner Andrew Ramsey said he planned to rebuild and resume production as soon as possible. While the building is being rebuilt, the mayor of New Orleans is working and looking for a temporary location so Hubig's Pie can begin producing pies again.

Famous quotes containing the word fire:

    There was the murdered corpse, in covert laid,
    And violent death in thousand shapes displayed;
    The city to the soldier’s rage resigned;
    Successless wars, and poverty behind;
    Ships burnt in fight, or forced on rocky shores,
    And the rash hunter strangled by the boars;
    The newborn babe by nurses overlaid;
    And the cook caught within the raging fire he made.
    Geoffrey Chaucer (1340?–1400)

    Man, became man through work, who stepped out of the animal kingdom as transformer of the natural into the artificial, who became therefore the magician, man the creator of social reality, will always stay the great magician, will always be Prometheus bringing fire from heaven to earth, will always be Orpheus enthralling nature with his music. Not until humanity itself dies will art die.
    Ernst Fischer (1899–1972)

    Perhaps my best years are gone. When there was a chance of happiness. But I wouldn’t want them back. Not with the fire in me now.
    Samuel Beckett (1906–1989)
