Huang Chao

Huang Chao (simplified Chinese: 黄巢; traditional Chinese: 黃巢; pinyin: Huáng Cháo; Wade–Giles: Huang Ch'ao, died 884) was the leader of the Huang Chao Rebellion (Chinese: 黃巢之亂, 874-884), known in mainland China as the Huang Chao Revolution (simplified Chinese: 黄巢起义; traditional Chinese: 黃巢起義; pinyin: Huáng Cháo Qǐyì) in China that seriously weakened the Tang Dynasty of China. The dynasty, which was one of the strongest empire in the world at the time, dissolved within a few decades after the rebellion, and the empire broke up into competing states of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period.
