"Holiday" is a song released by the British rock band Bee Gees. It was not released as a single in their native United Kingdom as Polydor UK released the single "World" from their next album Horizontal, but was released in the U.S. in September 1967. It appeared on the album Bee Gees' 1st The song's flipside was "Red Chair, Fade Away".But in the US, the flipside was "Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You".

The song is haunting, even eerie, having been composed primarily in the minor key with a strong organ presence. Brothers Barry Gibb and Robin Gibb who also wrote the song share lead vocals. There was also a promo video made for this song. The song remained a concert favorite for over 30 years, and Maurice Gibb often provided the fans comedic antics by attempting many failed attempts to join Barry & Robin while singing this song. They recorded this song during the same time as they recorded "To Love Somebody" around April 1967.

Singer Claudine Longet covered the song on her 1968 LP "Love Is Blue". American rock singer Ian Lloyd covered the song on his 1979 LP Goose Bumps. In 1979, the short-lived R&B/Disco group Moulin Rouge covered it as well as other early Bee Gees songs. The song was prominently featured in the Korean film Nowhere to Hide and Holiday.

Famous quotes containing the word holiday:

I can’t stand to sing the same song the same way two nights in succession, let alone two years or ten years. If you can, then it ain’t music, it’s close-order drill or exercise or yodeling or something, not music.
    —Billie Holiday (1915–1959)
