History Channel 300

The History 300 is an annual 300-mile (482.803 km) NASCAR Nationwide Series points race held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina during Memorial Day weekend. The event, first held in 1982, is held the day before the Coca-Cola 600.

From 2007-09 the race was a Saturday night race. For 2010, the starting time was moved to 2:30 P.M. EST in response to fans wanting an afternoon NNS race and allowing for ESPN on ABC coverage, allowing it to be part of a television doubleheader weekend for ESPN, paired with the Indianapolis 500 the next day.

Josephine K. Henry, U.S. suffragist. As quoted in History of Woman Suffrage, vol. 4, ch. 15, by Susan B. Anthony and Ida Husted Harper (1902)

The Xanthus or Scamander is not a mere dry channel and bed of a mountain torrent, but fed by the ever-flowing springs of fame ... and I trust that I may be allowed to associate our muddy but much abused Concord River with the most famous in history.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
