History

High 5 was founded in 1993, as a volunteer collaboration between staff of the New York Times, Ticketmaster, and the American Symphony Orchestra. In 1995, following an advertisement posted in the New York Times, High 5 appointed its first full time executive director and was incorporated as a non-profit organization. In the late 1990s, it founded the Take 5 program, in which an adult can take five teenagers to a performance, the adult's ticket being free. In 2006, High 5 sold its 105,000 tickets.
