Heritage Square (Los Angeles Metro Station)

Heritage Square/Arroyo Station (or simply Heritage Square) is an at-grade light rail station in the Los Angeles County Metro Rail system. It is located at the intersection of French Avenue and Pasadena Avenue in northeast Los Angeles, California. The station is served by the Gold Line.

The station is situated in the valley between Montecito Heights and Mount Washington. It is adjacent to the Pasadena (110) Freeway.

During the construction and planning stages, Heritage Square station was originally planned to be named French station, after nearby French Avenue. It was one of three stations to be renamed shortly before the lines opening. It was then renamed to Heritage Square/Arroyo nearby Heritage Square Museum and the Arroyo Seco stream/watershed. Metro now refers to the station by the shorter Heritage Square.

Famous quotes containing the words heritage, square and/or angeles:

The heritage of the American Revolution is forgotten, and the American government, for better and for worse, has entered into the heritage of Europe as though it were its patrimony—unaware, alas, of the fact that Europe’s declining power was preceded and accompanied by political bankruptcy, the bankruptcy of the nation-state and its concept of sovereignty.
    Hannah Arendt (1906–1975)

    Houses haunt me.
    That last house!
How it sat like a square box!
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

In Washington, the first thing people tell you is what their job is. In Los Angeles you learn their star sign. In Houston you’re told how rich they are. And in New York they tell you what their rent is.
    Simon Hoggart (b. 1946)
