Heather Stevens - Casting

Casting

The role was first portrayed by twin infants Dana and Lauren Schankman in 1979, and by Claire and Elizabeth Schoene from 1979 to 1982, when the character, now a toddler, left town with her mother. The character returned in 1993 as Heather Lynch, now a preteen girl, portrayed by Conci Nelson, daughter of then co-head writer Kay Alden until 1994. After a 13-year absence, Vail Bloom assumed the role on July 13, 2007.

In 2009, rumors circulated that Bloom would be leaving the role, however this was denied by the actress's publicist. In March 2010, it was announced that Eden Riegel would replace Bloom in the role after declining to return to her iconic role as Bianca Montgomery on ABC's All My Children. Bloom's publicist later confirmed that it was her own decision to leave the soap, stating: "It was Vail Bloom’s choice to leave Y&R to pursue other opportunities. As much as she loves Y&R and was honored to be on the No. 1 rated soap, and loved the opportunity to play the character of Heather, she felt it was time to pursue other projects." Bloom was last seen in the role on April 6, 2010, with Riegel taking over on April 20.

In September 2011, just after returning onscreen from a maternity leave, it was announced that Riegel would be leaving the role, with her last airdate on November 4, 2011. Seven months later, Jennifer Landon was cast in the role, debuting on June 7, 2012. However, after less than five months with The Young and the Restless, it was announced that Landon was to exit reportedly due to budgetary cuts. Onscreen, the actress departed without a proper exit on November 2, 2012.

Famous quotes containing the word casting:

    All we know
Is that we are a little early, that
    Today has that special, lapidary
    Todayness that the sunlight reproduces
Faithfully in casting twig-shadows on blithe
Sidewalks. No previous day would have been like this.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)

For the gods, though slow to see, see well, whenever a man casting aside worship turns folly.
    Sophocles (497–406/5 B.C.)

Reason sits firm and holds the reins, and she will not let the feelings burst away and hurry her to wild chasms. The passions may rage furiously, like true heathens, as they are; and the desires may imagine all sorts of vain things: but judgement shall still have the last word in every argument, and the casting vote in every decision.
    Charlotte Brontë (1816–1855)
