Hearts and Arrows Viewer
To see the hearts and arrows pattern in a diamond one must employ a specially designed light directing viewer called a Firescope. The Hearts and Arrows Viewer is a rather simple device that allows the viewer to analyze the physical symmetry, contrast and alignment of facets of a diamond by viewing the stone through both the top (crown area) and bottom (pavilion area) of a diamond, by directing white and colored light at set angles in order to catch and reflect light back from specific facets and angles of the diamond.

Famous quotes containing the words hearts and/or arrows:
“For when they meet, the tensile air
Like fine steel strains under the weight
Of messages that both hearts bear
Pure passion once, now purest hate....”
—Allen Tate (18991979)
“Tis chastity, my brother, chastity.
She that has that is clad in complete steel,
And like a quivered nymph with arrows keen
May trace huge forests and unharbored heaths,
Infamous hills and sandy perilous wilds,
Where, through the sacred rays of chastity,
No savage fierce, bandit, or mountaineer
Will dare to soil her virgin purity.”
—John Milton (16081674)
