Haswell (microarchitecture) - Design

Design

The Haswell architecture is specifically designed to optimize the power savings and performance benefits from the move to FinFET transistors on the improved 22 nm process node.

Haswell is expected to launch in three major forms:

  1. Desktop version (LGA1150 socket): Haswell-DT
  2. Mobile/Laptop version (PGA socket): Haswell-MB
  3. BGA version:
    • 47 W and 57 W TDP classes: Haswell-H (For "All-in-one" systems, Mini-ITX form factor motherboards, and other small footprint formats.)
    • 13.5 W and 15 W TDP classes (MCP): Haswell-ULT (For Intel's UltraBook platform.)
    • 10 W TDP class (SoC): Haswell-ULX (For tablets and certain UltraBook-class implementations.)

Famous quotes containing the word design:

Teaching is the perpetual end and office of all things. Teaching, instruction is the main design that shines through the sky and earth.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

    Westerners inherit
    A design for living
    Deeper into matter—
    Not without due patter
    Of a great misgiving.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

If I commit suicide, it will not be to destroy myself but to put myself back together again. Suicide will be for me only one means of violently reconquering myself, of brutally invading my being, of anticipating the unpredictable approaches of God. By suicide, I reintroduce my design in nature, I shall for the first time give things the shape of my will.
    Antonin Artaud (1896–1948)
