Hamari Betiyoon Ka Vivaah - Plot

Plot

This is a story about a middle-class family, the Kohlis. The story revolves around Kulraj Kohli, a homemaker, Kulbhushan Kohli, a college professor, and their four daughters. Their oldest daughter is Sujata, who has a bad horoscope which indicates that whomever she marries will die. Their second daughter is Trishna, who is strong and independent. Their third daughter is Tanya, a shy and sensitive girl. Their fourth daughter is Mansha, who is brave, sweet, outgoing and bubbly. The main issue is that Kulraj wants her daughters married into wealthy families, which causes all of the problems. Trishna falls in love with Raj Malhotra, thinking that he is Rajdeep Malhotra and that she will get married to him. However, when Kulraj learns that Raj is actually Rajdeep's adoptive brother, she begins to hate him and does her best to separate Trishna and Raj. Nearly during the same interval, Tanya is raped by Kanhaiyya. To save her and her family from defamation, Raj gets married to Tanya. Trishna and the other family members are shocked. They start to hate Raj and Tanya. Only Kulraj knows the truth and she develops an affectionate feeling for Raj, like before. Trishna accepts to marry Rajdeep.

After the marriage, everyone is surprised to notice the distance between the two sisters who got married at the same time and in the same family. On their honeymoon, Trishna is attacked by goons and while saving her, Rajdeep gets stabbed in the stomach. However, he recovers and Trishna starts loving and caring for him. Nupur, Trishna and Tanya's mother-in-law, is always trying to separate Trishna and Rajdeep, as she feels that Trishna is not worthy of Rajdeep and she hates middle-class people. She is the first one to notice the hatred between the two sisters. It's only during a party that Trishna learns the truth about tanya's rape. She is shocked and at the same time, sad that she did not support her sister, when the latter needed her the most. She no longer holds any grudge against either Raj nor Tanya. She again comes close to her sister and takes care of her, as she is pregnant. Meanwhile, Kanhaiyya makes his comeback and starts to bother Tanya. He even kidnaps her. However, Raj, Rajdeep and Trishna succeed in rescuing Tanya and believe that Kanhaiyya died as he had fallen from the hilltop.

After many ups and downs, Sujata gets married to Raghav. They are forced to live in poor conditions, having been disowned by Raghav's dad. While on a trip, Rajdeep dies in an accident, just when he was trying to be on time to Trishna's birthday party. Trishna refuses to believe that Rajdeep is dead and with the help of Raj, she goes to find him.

Meanwhile, Kanhaiyya, who was not dead finally, tries to seduce Mansha, who had gone to the badminton tournament. Tanya hears his voice on the phone, while talking to Mansha and immediately recognises him. She goes to the tournament and tries to warn Mansha. Mansha refuses to believe her. Kanhaiyya tries to rape Mansha, and attaches her to a pole. Tanya comes to Mansha's rescue and beats Kanhaiyya black and blue. He is then arrested by the police and everyone learns about Tanya's molestation. Nupur is furious and sends Trishna and Tanya's luggages to their parents' house.

After lots of struggle, Trishna is reunited with Rajdeep, who was just a little injured from the accident. They return back home. Nupur is thrilled to have her son back and curses Trishna, saying that she is the cause of all her troubles. Rajdeep tries to reason his Mom, saying that it is Trishna's faith and devotion that has brought him back to his family again. It was trishna who refused to believe Rajdeep was dead when everyone had already accepted his death. Nupur realises her mistakes and asks for forgiveness from Trishna, Tanya and their family. They are all reunited as a large happy family, but Shakti chooses this time to deceive Nupur by getting her signature on the power of attorney. Raj sees this and does not let anyone know about this. He reprimands Shakti for this kind of behaviour and the latter asks for his forgiveness, promising that he will never do this again.

The serial ends with the whole family singing "Kya Kehna" and dancing. The end is shown in photographs of a big happy family!

Famous quotes containing the word plot:

    Trade and the streets ensnare us,
    Our bodies are weak and worn;
    We plot and corrupt each other,
    And we despoil the unborn.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

    Those blessed structures, plot and rhyme—
    why are they no help to me now
    I want to make
    something imagined, not recalled?
    Robert Lowell (1917–1977)

    After I discovered the real life of mothers bore little resemblance to the plot outlined in most of the books and articles I’d read, I started relying on the expert advice of other mothers—especially those with sons a few years older than mine. This great body of knowledge is essentially an oral history, because anyone engaged in motherhood on a daily basis has no time to write an advice book about it.
