Hadley School For The Blind - Four Program Areas

Four Program Areas

Hadley offers four main program areas of study: Adult Continuing Education (ACE), Family Education (FE), Hadley School for Professional Studies (HSPS) and High School (HS).

Hadley's Adult Continuing Education (ACE) Program offers a variety of courses for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Topics range from braille and academic studies to independent living, technology, business and employment skills and recreation. ACE students who are parents of children who are visually impaired or blind are also eligible for courses in our Family Education Program.

Hadley's Family Education (FE) Program offers a variety of courses for family members of individuals who are blind or severely visually impaired. Topics range from child development, to independent living, to braille reading and writing and adjustment to blindness issues.

Hadley School for Professional Studies (HSPS) is a unique distance education program that provides a convenient and affordable alternative to traditional professional continuing education. HSPS is perfect for busy professionals and paraprofessionals who want to build or refresh their skills to work more effectively with clients and students. HSPS also allows you to earn Continuing Education Credit.

HSPS courses are available to anyone who works directly with blind or visually impaired individuals in a work, school or community setting, whether as a paid employee or volunteer. Students currently enrolled in a college or university program preparing for a career in the blindness field may apply for enrollment, as well.

Hadley's High School (HS) Program features academic courses and electives for students who wish to earn a high school diploma. Two options are available to HS students:

EARN A HADLEY DIPLOMA: Transfer credit earned from your previous high school or earn all 16 Carnegie units with Hadley.

TRANSFER HADLEY COURSE CREDIT TO YOUR LOCAL SCHOOL: If you are earning a diploma at your local high school, you have the option of supplementing your program with Hadley course credit. Hadley students range in age from 14 through adulthood and come from a variety of educational experiences. Hadley's diploma program is ideal for those who wish to earn a high school diploma for career opportunities or for personal achievement. Note: Admission policies and procedures vary among schools. Additional coursework outside of Hadley may be required for students interested in pursuing post-secondary education.
