Guadiana Valley Natural Park

Guadiana Valley Natural Park (Portuguese: Parque Natural do Vale do Guadiana) is a natural park in southeastern Portugal. It is one of the 30 areas which are officially under protection in the country.

The town of Mértola is a good starting point to access the park.

The top of the flow gage tower was reached by the Guadiana twice in 50 years.

Famous quotes containing the words valley, natural and/or park:

    There is not in the wide world a valley so sweet
    As that vale in whose bosom the bright waters meet;
    Thomas Moore (1779–1852)

    Give me a country where it is the most natural thing in the world for a government that does not understand you to let you alone.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    Borrow a child and get on welfare.
    Borrow a child and stay in the house all day with the child,
    or go to the public park with the child, and take the child
    to the welfare office and cry and say your man left you and
    be humble and wear your dress and your smile, and don’t talk
    back ...
