Greytown Branch - Today

Today

The only remnants of the terminus are the goods shed and loading bank. For much of its length the formation is marked by fences and rows of trees.

The former railway formation between Cotter Street, Greytown and Woodside is being developed as a walkway and cycleway, mainly for recreational use, but also for the benefit of commuters accessing rail services at Woodside Railway Station. This was possible, in part, because the route has "paper road" status. A group of local residents advocating the idea submitted a proposal to the Greytown Community Board which was subsequently approved after landowners along the route consented to the use of their land for the project. The trail is being built using volunteer labour, with the first stage opening on 6 November 2011 and having secured funding of $30,000 towards the completion of the second stage, it is expected to open on 3 February 2013 completing the Greytown – Woodside link.

Famous quotes containing the word today:

Genius is talent provided with ideals. Genius starves while talent wears purple and fine linen. The man of genius of today will in fifty years’ time be in most cases no more than a man of talent.
    Somerset Maugham (1874–1965)

Somewhere between a third and a quarter of all people living in America today were born between 1946 and 1965 and if you think you’re tired of hearing about us, you should try being one of us.
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)

In the information age, you don’t teach philosophy as they did after feudalism. You perform it. If Aristotle were alive today he’d have a talk show.
    Timothy Leary (b. 1920)
